IPhone Photo Competition

Jeremy Blandford and I had a lunchtime catch-up at Midland Park last Wednesday.  I showed this picture I took from my IPhone on Monday at the Civic Square and said we should start a competition for IPhone users Wellington.  

As he always does, Jeremy sprung into action and has created a site for this.  So IPhone users, get your creative eye working and send the photo's to this competition.

Enjoying The Iphone Blogging Capability

It's absolutely fantastic to be able to update the blog from a mobile device. My Treo650 just didn't cut the mustered.

I'm glad I joined the queue to get one. Very first shipment to New Zealand was sold off in less than one day. 

Very first iphone developers in the world

Met a young guy called Cody Bunea while standing in the queue on Thursday night to get the IPhone. 

His company,  http://www2.polarbearfarm.com/ is the very first registered iphone apps developers in the world. Great achievement for this small Chch based team. You can download their first app called "telegram" from the app store.

Telegram is personal as calling, un-intrusive as SMS & instant as email. Its a very great way to communicate with other IPhone users in your contact base.

Got an IPhone

I joined the queue in Vodafone store in Wellington around 10pm on Thursday 10 July for the IPhone release. I was number 34 in the queue of about 150.  

It was cold night but the Vodafone team did a great job to keep us comfortable with food, blankets, hot chocolate etc.  

The shop opened at mid-night and I got into the store around 1pm. It took about 15 minutes to set-up everything & request the transfer of my Telecom Mobile number to the new IPhone. 

They said it will take 48 hours for the phone to be activated (because of the number transfer from Telecom) but my phone was up and running within 12 hours.  Staff were fantastic, they called to check everything is on on the new phone ... great customer experience. 

Today I managed to log in to the App Store & download few cool apps.  This is a great toy,  thanks a million for Steve Jobs and the Apple team for creating an awesome mobile device.
